3. The register shows whether the specialist is registered as an advocate or a legal consultant, along with contact details.

The register's limits matter here: it doesn't include paralegals or PR staff, it doesn't show former practitioners or those suspended from practice, and it doesn't show a lawyer's specialization. DLAD itself is explicit that being listed "is not a recommendation and does not imply endorsement" by the department — it confirms registration, not quality. For emirates outside Dubai, the check runs through that emirate's judicial department instead — the same underlying principle as checking a case through official government services.

One distinction to be clear on: an advocate can represent you in court; a legal consultant advises and drafts documents but doesn't appear in proceedings. That split between the two statuses comes from Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2022 on regulating the legal profession.
