Travel ban lawyer in the UAE
A travel ban stays in place after you pay the debt, and time won't remove it. You almost always need a separate application to the court or the authority. First we find out what kind of ban you have and where it sits, then we get it lifted.
When people come to us
- Passport control turned you back.
- You have a debt or a court case and don't know if you can fly.
- You paid the debt, but the ban is still there.
- Your employer filed an absconding report.
- You have no Emirates ID or UAE Pass and need to check from abroad.
- You were deported and want to return to the UAE.
What we do
- We check every system: Dubai Police, Estafser (Abu Dhabi), MOHRE, GDRFA and ICP. A clean result in one says nothing about the others.
- We identify the ban: civil (a creditor's claim), criminal (prosecution or court) or immigration.
- We remove the cause: settle with the creditor, close the case, challenge the absconding report.
- We file the lifting application with the court, the Ministry of Justice or GDRFA. In court a UAE-licensed advocate represents you.
- We confirm the ban is gone from every system before you go to the airport.
Timelines and what drives the cost
Government fees are small. The Ministry of Justice application to cancel a ban costs AED 300 and, per moj.gov.ae, takes 2 working days. GDRFA lifts a ban for free and charges only a transfer fee of AED 20–100.
Removing the cause takes longest. Legal blogs estimate 7–14 working days for immigration bans and 30–90 days for court and criminal ones. Our fee depends on the type of ban, the emirate and whether the debt is settled; we quote it after the check.

FAQ
How do I find out if I have a travel ban?
Check each system separately: Dubai Police for Dubai cases, Estafser for Abu Dhabi, MOHRE for absconding, GDRFA and ICP for immigration restrictions. No single database covers them all.
I paid the debt. Will the ban drop off?
Usually not. After payment you need a separate application to the court or authority, or the ban stays in the system.
What debt amount triggers a travel ban?
A court imposes a civil ban on a creditor's application; the usual threshold is about AED 10,000. A debt alone does not block you at the border.
How long does removal take?
The Ministry of Justice processes the application in 2 working days. End to end, including fixing the cause, immigration bans take 7–14 working days and court or criminal ones 30–90 days.
Is absconding the same as a travel ban?
No. Absconding is an employment status: your employer reported you out of contact for 7+ days. It can cancel your visa and lead to deportation, but it doesn't bar you from leaving. You challenge it through MOHRE.
Can the ban be lifted without me flying to the UAE?
Often, yes. With a notarised and legalised power of attorney, a lawyer in the UAE can check the case and the ban directly with the authorities and file the applications.
